Looking back at 2024

Happy new year! Once more, a year has passed, another wipe is in progress, with a new season approaching.

Let’s take a few minutes, just like we do every year, to sit down, lay back, and take a look at the wonderful statistics of season six on our server.

Spade decided to build this year’s spawn, without me even really being aware of it until it was finished.

For Halloween—or rather—the entirety of October, our staff, first and foremost Krab, created a legendary event with four unique bosses to battle.

Now, let’s talk about what comes next.

Remember last year when I mentioned Mojang’s focus on minor updates instead of major ones? Well, that trend is still going strong, making it tough for modders to agree on a solid version to work with. For this year, we’ll stick with 1.20.1, but chances are we won’t be stuck here as long as we were with 1.12 or 1.16.

On another note, the server software we’ve been using for the past couple of years just announced they’re shutting down the project. At least this time, we had a chance to find a new option—unlike when they suddenly decided to drop support for 1.16.5 right after we reopened in 2023. Or was it 2022?

Either way, we’ve found a new alternative that seems promising and might even be less buggy, which is a nice surprise.
