Looking back at 2025

Happy New Year! Again, another year passed, another wipe is in progress, the next season approaching.

I think the most notable change this year has been the move to our own hardware, which we didn’t really announce. We’ve been sponsored by Apex Hosting since our relaunch in 2019 and we’re very thankful for that, but deep down, we’ve always had the wish to self host the server to achieve even better performance. Can you tell on which day we’ve switched?

Anyway, let’s take a few minutes, just like we do every year, to sit down, lean back, and take a look at the wonderful statistics of season seven on our server.

As every year, you will be able to download the entire world, although you may need a fast internet connection and a lot of space.

Now, let’s talk about what comes next.

Remember the last years, when I mentioned Mojang’s focus on minor updates instead of major ones? Ugh. They’ve now officially made it the way they want to update Minecraft now. At least, modders seem to agree that 26.1 (that is Minecraft’s new version scheme) will be “the next big version”.

However, that version has not been released yet, and aside from mods, is missing a somewhat-stable hybrid server, so it wasn’t an option for us right now.

Hence, we are upgrading to 1.21.1 – I know, I know, not a lot of change, still a lot of Mojang’s “game drops” missing – but if everything works out the way it looks right now, we’ll only be here for a year.
